Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.
There is a widespread misconception that solar energy is only viable in the Southwestern United States. In reality, solar energy is viable across the nation.
The Department of Energy has prepared the map below, showing the potential to produce solar energy. If you look closely, you may find a few surprises. For example, famously sunny Los Angeles is rated as “very good” for Solar, but famously snowy Fargo North Dakota is also rated as “very good for solar”. Much of the Northeast is rated as “good” for Solar, including often cold and snowy places like Detroit Michigan, Buffalo New York, and Boston Massachusetts..
General Contractors and Electricians are coming to Boots on the Roof from across the nation, because they understand that Solar Energy makes sense from coast to coast. The new Federal incentives make Solar a more financially attractive option in all 50 states. We’ll be writing more about this new program in an upcoming blog entry.
Need more detail than the DOE map below? Please look at this new Solar Resource Map from 3 Tier Group. Their new map shows solar ( and wind) resource data in unprecedented detail, for most of North and South America.
So before throwing solar hope into the wind, take into consideration that you’d probably be wasting a huge amount of solar potential.
