Hydrogen/Solar Power Combo on the Way!

September 4, 2009

Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.

There is a new breakthrough in the solar world! You can store solar energy in fuel cells and and then harness your solar energy to produce electricity to run lights and appliances at night!  You might ask how I can do this.  Most people who have solar panels feed electricity into the power grid during the day but they have to hold back at night.  However, with oxygen and hydrogen, you can produce electricity when the sun is not shining. Thus, you can turn sunlight into a chemical fuel and use energy from PV at night! There is a catalyst that produces oxygen and hydrogen in fuel cells and generates electricity. The great part is that fuel cells use less energy than many other storage methods! Fuel cells are also beneficial because they produce electricity without generating greenhouse gases and climate changes, they’re green! Many companies and automakers are using this catalyst and making a huge profit in cars.  Now the question is, why can’t you do the same for solar?

When I first heard about this brilliant idea, I was shocked at how simple and yet efficient it was.  Initially I thought it would be impossible but I was proven wrong.  Like I mentioned, companies and automakers have been using fuel cell systems for a while. There are many reasons as to why you should take a look into fuel cells for energy.  First off, you will be saving money and helping the economy at the same time.  The best investment that you can make is using clean energy through hydrogen and oxygen! Wohooooo! The next question you might ask is who you can get to install the solar panels and do all the “technical stuff?” Well, any licensed contractor or electrician can do this for you, as long as they have been trained in solar.

So, do you have a company or a business and would like to make money as a solar business?  Solar energy is in high demand, and is only going to get bigger. So why not get trained to join in!

This fairly high cost is however more than offset by the reduced electric bills and gas bills, and of rebates make renewable energy installations more and more enticing every year. But what about the quality of...

I remember seeing a video on that about a year to two ago and I was amazed at what that guy had done to store solar energy and not sell it back to the grid.

Neat stuff, but a bit too pricey.
