Ontario Lights 7000 Solar Homes

October 15, 2009

Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.

Ottawa, Ontario is the Canadian version of Washington DC.  The capital city.  A vibrant society full of national leaders who wake up in the morning and hope to make a difference, to better the lives of their constituents.

The Deputy Premier of Ontario and Minister of Energy, the Honorable George Smitherman, along with Tristan Grimbert, Pres & EO of EDF EN Canada, dedicated the Arnprior Solar Project, a 23.4 MW PV installation on the west side of the city TODAY.  They are driving the Province’s Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP).  They are helping Ontario to procure energy for their citizens from renewable resources.  And it’s happening in a big way – today.

Wouldn’t ya know that 150 community members have found new jobs at the Arnprior Solar Project since it began its design phase early in 2009.    Remarkable -solar power projects create jobs.  And are helping in halting our use of non-renewable fossil fuels to create energy for our society.

Minister Smitherman statement was pretty clear: “The opening of this solar farm in Arnprior will be a significant part of the growing momentum for green energy as we work together to eliminate coal fired electricity generation in Ontario.”  YAY!!!

Ontario is the Capital of Canada.  Where goes the capital, so goes the rest of the country.  That means more solar projects and more new jobs in the rest of Canada.

I sure wish DC would step up.
