Boots at the 2009 San Francisco Auto Show: update, the Nissan Leaf

November 30, 2009

Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.

Just last Wednesday boots got to attend the 2009 San Francisco Auto Show (which runs until dec 2, so check it out). While there we got to see not only many of the new cars to hit the market next year, but we got to see the much anticipated Nissan Leaf. The Leaf is going to be a great step forward in the mass production of fully electric cars, and will help make our planet even greener. We hope to see many more automotive companies take the lead that Nissan is next year.

What makes the leaf great is that its fully electric, and can be charged at home, or soon at a number of electric refueling stations that have already begun to pop up around the country to cater to other electric cars. As the cars become more widespread so will the number of stations that can recharge them. This is a huge step for renewable energy as it helping to remove the great amount of pollution that cars inherently give off, even if they have low emissions, its not 0 emissions like the Leaf.

The only drawback of this great car and way to drive is that is still a year off to see people owning their own Leafs, and even longer till any system can be set up for the refueling stations. But its possible to preorder a Leaf even now, and I’m sure that in a years time it won’t just be the Nissan leaf that’s 0 emission, but other cars are bound to follow in Nissan’s footsteps. Just as solar power is booming right now, in a couple of years it will finally be the turn for the electric car.
