Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.
A handful of companies and degrees have come out to help other companies and businesses deal with their energy expenses and either fix them, or lower them wherever applicable. And this is a great idea, pay a little upfront in order to lower your energy costs not by making renewable energy, but by not using so much conventional energy. Little things such as replacing old windows, properly insulating your business, and using better efficiency appliances etc all can lower your energy costs by a noticeable amount. This is a lower cost and relatively easy way to eliminate more unnecessary energy wasting, than by first getting renewable energy systems installed. And of course renewable energy systems will be even more helpful if used on an already more efficient company.
The US government has seen this avenue as an excellent way to boost the energy effienceny of our country, by getting rid of wasteful habits and performing these energy audits on homes around the country. President Obama and congress are working on a program, tentatively called “cash for caulkers” that would provide around 12,000 in rebates for home energy audits. And these audits will be the first wave of change for our homes, because after making them more energy efficient then renewable energy systems would be even more effective. A home that uses its current energy more effectively will be a better home for other renewable energy systems.
Yet another added benefit of this country-wide reform is that the people that do these energy audits get much needed jobs, further adding to the green jobs available. As the details of this program are still being worked out, the exact nature of the auditors and rebates is not certain. But this program is likely to provide much needed infrastructure development for the US on a much needed domestic scale.

- Solar installation quality, is everyone living up to the cost? Solar power systems, and most renewable energy systems too, are quite expensive undertakings. This fairly high cost is however more than offset by the reduced electric bills and gas bills, and of rebates make renewable energy installations more and more enticing every year. What you call “Green Collar jobs” put my career back on track. After passing the BPI certification through CleanEdison, I was able to secure a job and end my 9 months of unemployment.
Hey Jeremy! Congratulations!! We love to hear that kind of good news! Cheers to employment in the renewable energy industry!!
HI Jeremy, I was wondering what kind of job? Im also unemployed, did unemployement pay for the training? please let me know, THANKS
I took a CleanEdison BPI course in NJ last month. I really enjoyed meeting the other students and many of us have stayed in touch since the end of the class. I fully plan on taking the Envelope Professional class next month.
