Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.
A big issue that this afternoon is concentrating on - people here are VERY concerned with how utilities and organizations who are creating these new programs regarding energy efficiency issues for the state are going to market energy efficiency to different populations. We’ve got consultants, contractor groups and low income community organizers going at it. Everyone wants to make sure that their community population is included in marketing and research processes.
Population ranges have been classified as highly/moderately/ minimally engaged and they’ve decided that those numbers are related to the amount of contractors within the population areas who are able to carry out the energy efficiency/ home performance work within their communities.
Data was requested by some parties on how these measurements were determined and it was by group discussion. But who was invited to local government group meet ups -was wasn’t every local government contacted and included? It turns out that invitations were extended to regional organizations as well as local governments and outreach will continue into the future. (I mentioned networking as a possibility for communication! Hey network!) Women’s Energy Matters is very concerned that everyone in the state is involved. It’s good that there’s at least one group that’s concerned with comprehensive contacts in local governments all over the state…
CPUC presents the case that there’s unprecedented cooperation and negotiation on Energy Efficiency issues and programs for the major metropolitan areas of California: San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles County are all in communication and coordination for these future programs. That’s good to know! Thanks CPUC.
Every community will market in their own way and utilities have to be responsive to that as well. There’s going to be coordination between utility areas and local government programs. What about everyone else? There’s a discussion on how to include those households as well.
Just so everyone knows – Boots on the Roof is in the room and definitely part of the discussion. Go us! And our alumni will know results of discussions as soon as we do. This is very interesting everyone!
