Potential for US Wind Power is Quite High

January 21, 2010

Welcome back, dedicated reader! Thanks for visiting.

Although California has been a pioneer for wind power systems in the US, it is not the best state for wind power systems. The power generated by wind in the US would increase dramatically if more of the windier states in the nation incorporated more wind power systems. In terms of average wind energy potential, CA is the 17th of all the states, that’s 16 more states that would be much better suited for wind power. The top state, north Dakota, has about 20 times the wind energy potential that CA has.

Clearly states in the Midwest are much windier, and therefore would be excellent places for wind power plants to be set up. The incredible thing is that if all of this land was used for reasonable sized wind farms, combined they would produce double the current energy production of the united states. This is an amazing figure and its surprising more hasn’t already been done to tap into this huge natural energy reservoir. Fortunately these states will be windy for a long time to come, so all that’s left now is to set up the wind power plants, whether it be small or big wind scale projects.

And of course this means more trained wind turbine installers will be needed. As with the solar revolution, wind is big, and getting bigger. So why not get yourself trained and get a in-demand job such as installing wind power systems. Request for more information about how to get some wind job training at our main site.

  5. Grid Tied Wind Power is the key to Powering Our World Wind power is obviously a growing area of renewable energy, but for all its benefits and implications wind power still is a little unwieldy. As wind power changes with often unstable wind patterns, the power produced also carries this degree of instability and fluctuation. Larger grid systems, that link...
