With all the talk of green energy and alternative energy sources, it begs the question as to how far we have really come. The answer, much as it has been in the past, is that a very small percentage of US energy is renewable, and a much smaller percentage than we may like to see. But the good news lies in the growth of the revolution to more sustainable energies across the nation. Despite the slow difficult start renewable energy is finally getting to not only be popular, but an affordable and increasingly excellent economic decision. Although solar energy capacity nationwide is only equivalent to about 2 large coal plants, wind and geothermal power sources add to over 20 equivalent coal plant productions. With the latest wind energy report from AWEA wind now produces 1.8% of the nations power, and the energy produced by wind farms and installations adds up to all other renewable energies combined. Wind is finally providing a catalyst to really get renewable energy figures high, and set us on the right track to a more efficient nation overall.
So the outlook is quite bright, as the rate in which new renewable energy installations are taking hold increases each year, providing just as expected as it is reducing energy costs and adding a vast new renewable energy industry to revitalize the American economy. The growth is real, and so are the benefits we are already seeing around us. Do your part to make it happen, promote green energy, help spread the word on green initiatives, and take the revolution into your own hands and get a job installing renewable energy systems for the millions of home and business owners looking to go green themselves.
