As the “Largest Oil Spill in U.S. History” continues, all focus turns to Clean, Renewable Energy The explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20th, and the millions of gallons of oil it continu The oil will continue to spread through the eco-system and, like all systemic toxins, affect every form and aspect of life in the U.S. and, indeed, across the entire globe ~ everything from the oil industry to the restaurant and hotel industry (and not just in the gulf) will reflect the damage that has been, and continues to be, done. One of the first areas to be affected is energy and, in that way, we are fortunate because we have a number of clean energy alternatives in solar, wind, and geothermal energy production. We have had the technology for a long time, but now we also have the infrastructure necessary for the practical application of that technology. Already, wind farms and solar energy systems, and the factories that produce their component parts, have been springing up all over the country. And in the wake of such a monumental ~ and wholly preventable ~ disaster as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, it is no longer just energy utilities companies that are interested in renewable energy sources. Private citizens are also waking up to the economic and ethical aspects imperative to clean, renewable energy. The sharp contrast between energy sources ~ toxic fossil fuels like oil vs clean energy like wind and solar ~ occasioned by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill will no doubt increase the demand for the installation of such clean energy systems in both private and commercial applications. Training in the multi-faceted industry of Renewable Energy is available from expert providers like Boots on the Roof, which offers state-of-the-art renewable energy education in both Wind and Solar Energy applications. The Renewable Energy Industry is growing, and the skills and knowledge of graduates from Boots on the Roof programs are quite likely to be in even greater demand in the near future. |
