If you are an experienced sales professional planning to use your skills in the rapidly expanding Solar Energy sector – we've written this course just for you.

You know that a person can't learn sales skills in just a week or two, and we agree. So this course is not a "How to Sell" course; this is a course on how to sell solar power systems, written expressly for those who already know how to sell.

We have worked with veteran solar sales professionals to craft a course that goes way beyond the textbook answers, and brings you the benefit of their decades of real-world experience, selling PV systems to real customers.

Course Content:

This course is about the things that Solar Sales Professionals do, things like:

  • Qualifying the Customer – separating truly good candidates to acquire a PV system, from those who are merely " into solar".
  • Conducting a Site Analysis – where on the property will the system go
  • Presenting a Conceptual Design
  • Explaining Financial Costs, Incentives, and Savings
  • Explaining Financing options, and Financial Benefit Analysis
  • Analyzing and explaining Non-financial Benefits
  • Performance Analysis
  • Preparing Proposals – that accurately reflect the physical and financial performance of the system

This is not a course about installation, nor is it a course about the more technical aspects of System Design. Students who wish to learn these topics should also attend the 6-Day Solar Training PV Boot Camp

Job Description:

A PV salesperson is a solar electric professional who is knowledgeable about the citing, design, analysis and performance of PV systems. Typically, a PV salesperson gathers site-specific information, analyzes customer needs and energy usage for the purpose of advising and providing customers with the most appropriate solution for their situation.

Before coming to class, students should be comfortable with:

  • climbing ladders / heights (for customer site surveys)
  • technical calculations
  • B2B and B2C sales
  • "coffee table sales" with customers or C-level executives

NABCEP PV Technical Sales Certification:

Designed to address the topics on NABCEP's "Job Task Analysis" for PV Technical Sales, this course does not include the fees for taking the NABCEP exam. For those who are interested in the NABCEP PV Technical Sales Certification, please note that NABCEP has defined seven different "entry requirement tracks" for this certification. Like all NABCEP Certifications, there are requirements for professional field experience before you can apply to take a certification exam.

These requirements are on page 7 of the NABCEP Candidate Information Handbook for Computer-Based Exams. Please note that some of the entry requirement tracks also require the candidate to have "successfully passed the NABCEP Entry Level PV Exam ". Those who wish to prepare for the NABCEP Entry Level Exam are encouraged to also attend the 6-Day Solar Training PV Boot Camp.

  • Only NABCEP decides who meets their requirements to be invited to take this test, so please apply directly to NABCEP.
  • Only NABCEP decides who qualifies to take this exam, so we want to be clear that taking the exam is NOT included with this course.
  • While we will do our best to help you be thoroughly prepared to take the exam, final responsibility for passing the exam rest squarely with you. There can be no guarantees that you will pass your exam.
